The museum is holding a talk on 'Lace in Dorset – its history, manufacture and use' with Liz Pass, on Tuesday 18 October, 7.30pm. Liz will give an illustrated talk on the history of lace in Europe, its manufacture in Dorset towns and its use on furnishings and clothing by those who could afford it.
Liz has been making bobbin lace for nearly 40 years and needlelace for more than 20 years. As well as making lace, she became interested in collecting and identifying different types of lace and this led to discovering the history of the craft. Her talk will be illustrated with photographs and items from her collection.
Tickets for the talk cost £6 and are available from Wimborne Tourist Information Centre or on 01202 886116. Booking is essential.
