Tea Hearts

Posted on 07 Feb 2017
Tea Hearts is an afternoon tea event focused on bringing folks of all ages together this Valentine's Day, 14 February, 2pm to 4pm. The event has been designed by a group of five Arts University Bournemouth Creative Events Management students in response to a brief from the museum's Director, Emma Ayling. The event will take place at the Hilda Coles Open Learning Centre which is a recent addition (2012) to the museum. The museum’s collections are rich in archaeology, costume, and include various other local history materials, which tell the story of East Dorset. The event will raise money for the museum. This event is one of several collaborations that the Arts University Bournemouth’s students will be taking on. Liaising with AUB’s Graphics, Costume, Creative Writing, and Interior Architecture courses the Tea Hearts afternoon tea party will go live as affiliates of the 'Be My...' Valentine's Day Exhibition. The exhibition runs from 4-28 February. The exhibition is inspired by the museum's collection of over 350 Victorian Valentine’s Day cards. Both the exhibition and the Tea Hearts event will be raising awareness of the collection and are intended overall to raise the profile of the museum. Guests will be served a traditional afternoon tea whilst incorporating a vintage theme throughout the Garden Tea Room. Guests will be able to chat and enjoy some entertainment sourced from the surrounding area. Tickets priced at £8.50 are available from Wimborne Tourist Information Centre or on 01202 886116. Booking is essential. The ticket includes a traditional, vintage themed, afternoon tea experience utilizing Dorset based baked goods and sandwiches, and light entertainment. For any dietary requirements please contact the museum.
