Where Do We Belong?

A research student, Emma Ayling, from the Institute of Archaeology, University College London, in conjunction with the museum would like to hear from people who are researching their families in East Dorset, as part of a project entitled 'Belonging – performing genealogy and family history at the Priest's House Museum – untold stories'.

This project will involve interviewing you (as a person who uses the museum for family history research or as a visitor to the area on account of family connections). The interview will consider how the museum can provide you with a wider knowledge and understanding of East Dorset and its people, and how this creates a sense of community.

Emma is researching 'community museum' – in this case the Priest's House Museum & Garden, the Museum of East Dorset. She aims to gain a fuller understanding of what defines and makes a community and how community museums form relations with people, in this case the East Dorset area and beyond.

For further information please contact Emma Ayling at the museum on 01202 882533 or e-mail
