Musical Mayhem

Posted on 10 Aug 2017

The museum is the place to be for a 'Musical Mayhem' family activity day on Tuesday 29 August from 10.00 to 2.00. This is a Family Explorers event.

Children can make their own musical instruments, from shakers to a shoe box guitar, maracas, castanets and wrist bells. They can then play along with our in-house musicians. Finally they will be able to join in a garden parade before the end of the session (weather permitting).

From 11.00 to 12.30 Nichola Christie, Music Maker and Story Facilitator (Outrageous Theatre) will be creating a story with vocal and instrumental soundscapes using Kora, Fiddle and Chimes. Kora, Fiddle and Chimes weave their way together into a magical time of wonder, mystery and joy! Join the Snow Dragon (Vivien French) and Little Cloud (Eric Carle) as they face the challenges and triumphs ahead...and children's made instruments will help them along on their journey. Suitable for children of all ages.

The Garden Tea Room will be serving light savoury snacks, delicious cakes, cream teas, ice creams and drinks.

Admission is £1.75 per person (annual ticket not valid), which includes entrance to the museum and garden. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
