The museum is offering free entry in the run up to Christmas from the 10 to 22 December 2018 (closed Sundays), 10am to 4pm.

This is the last chance to explore this important building before it closes at the end of the year for an exciting refurbishment programme, reopening in spring 2020. The National Lottery has awarded a grant of £982,200 towards the museum's £1.6 million Revival Project.

Visitors of all ages can discover stunning Roman wall paintings, the fascinating childhood gallery and a unique Victorian Valentine card collection. They can explore period rooms from a 17th century hall to the working Victorian kitchen, finding out how life and work has changed in this historic townhouse.

The current costume exhibition is 'Hats for All Occasions'. There are two displays marking the end of the first world war, 'Only a Boy' and 'After the War'. There is also an exhibition celebrating 25 years since the reopening of the Tivoli Theatre.

It is also a chance to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our wonderful walled garden. Its hidden alcoves and secluded lawns also feature heritage fruit trees, colourful herbaceous borders, a traditional vegetable patch and a glimpse of the river Allen.

Seasonal refreshments are available from the Garden Tea Room. The tearoom is currently running a special offer of a tea/coffee and slice of cake for £3.50, while stocks last.

This is a wonderful chance to take a peek behind the museum's High Street façade and discover a secret treasure.

Wimborne Tourist Information Centre and the Garden Tea Room will be open in the New Year.
