Archaeology explorers

A day of activities for all the family with the Portable Antiquities Scheme.

The museum will be hosting a 'PASt Explorers Activity Day' on Tuesday 19 February 2019, 10.00am to 3.00pm.

Join us a for a day of activities for all the family with the Portable Antiquities Scheme. Visitors can meet their local Finds Liaison Officer, learn about the archaeology of Dorset and handle some real archaeological objects.

Try your hand at being a Finds Liaison Officer and have a go at drawing and recording some finds. You can make your own Coat of Arms.

Visitors can also become an archaeologist and join our indoor archaeology dig. Uncover hidden objects as you peel back the layers of history.

There will be other craft activities, colouring in and much more. The Garden Tea Room will be open, serving light refreshments.

This is a free event in partnership with the Portable Antiquities Scheme and Dorset County Council, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Portable Antiquities Scheme is run by the British Museum and National Museum Wales to encourage the recording of archaeological objects found by members of the public.
