Indoor archaeology dig!

Posted on 02 Aug 2013
The museum will be offering a hands on opportunity to find out all about archaeology on Wednesday 14 August. We will be joined on the day by Julian Richards of ‘Meet the Ancestors’ fame.

Developed in the ‘What’s Under Your School?’ project led by Julian Richards and Claire Ryley, the indoor archaeology dig gives everyone a chance to find out about archaeology, what archaeologists do and what is under our feet - all without getting your hands dirty!

Choose either a morning session from 10.30 to 12.30 or an afternoon session from 1.30 to 3.30. Admission is £2 per person. The annual pass is not valid for this event. There is no need to book but numbers are limited and will be on a first come first served basis. For further information please contact the museum.

‘What’s Under Your School?’ was a project funded by Dr Alistair Somerville-Ford, through the Council for British Archaeology (Wessex Branch). Schools in Dorset and Wiltshire used maps, people and objects to investigate the history and archaeology of their school and local area.
