Uncovering the past

Posted on 02 Jul 2013
The museum is holding an Archaeological Finds Surgery on Saturday 13 July from 10 to 3.

If you have made archaeological finds that you would like to discover more about, Ciorstaidh Hayward Trevarthen, Dorset County Council’s Finds Liason Officer, is holding a finds surgery. The event is part of the Festival of British Archaeology. If you have objects unearthed through metal detecting, fieldwalking or casual finds from gardening etc. then please bring them along. The national Portable Antiquities Scheme for the voluntary recording of finds, aims to advance knowledge of the history and archaeology of England and Wales by systematically recording archaeological objects found by the public.

The Scheme records thousands of items of pottery and flint, metal objects, coins, and other finds (from prehistory to around 1650) each year.

Admission is FREE if you bring a find for identification. If you would like any further information please contact the museum.
