Gathering family memories of World War One

Posted on 30 May 2013
The museum and Wimborne Community Theatre have joined forces to arrange a Gathering Family Memories of World War One drop in event at the museum on the 15 June, 10am to 2 pm.

They would like to meet local people who have family memories, stories, photographs, objects or letters relating to family members in the Great War. Or anyone with information about what Wimborne was like at that time.

This will form part of research for projects taking place in Wimborne during 2014, to commemorate the centenary of World War One.

Entry to the museum will be free for people attending the event and refreshments will be provided.

The Priest’s House Museum Trust have said: “The Priest’s House Museum Trust is very pleased to be working in partnership with Wimborne Community Theatre on in this important initiative to commemorate the centenary of World War One, looking at the local impact of this global conflict.”

Gill Horitz of Wimborne Community Theatre, said: “This is a great opportunity for WCT to work together with the Priest’s House Museum on a common purpose. WCT is looking for ideas that will help us create a story about local people at the start of the Great War. We want to find out what affect the war had on local families and the town generally. We will then develop a theatre production that will be set in the town centre in 2014.”
